YEG Consulting and Translations
About Me
Independent Consultant
My name is Maja and I have been an academic professional for the past 25 years. I have immigrated to Canada with my family 8 years ago, and have had a first hand experience of all the hurdles and challenges a person needs to go through while adjusting to a new environment. Therefore, since, I tried to be of service in as many capacities as possible. I have been volunteering for years with Edmonton Immigrant Services Association as a translator and later on as a proofreader. Given that this Association (and other immigrant agencies) only serve immigrants without a settled status, I was unable to help anyone who was on a work permit, tourist visa, permanent residence or even citizenship. That nudged me to take examinations with Association of Translators and Interpreters of Alberta for Associate and later Certified tier, to put myself in a position to help anyone who needs documents translation or help with any other type of written communication in Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian to English and vice versa.
I was born and raised in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but spent numerous adult years living in Serbia, the United States and later Canada. These experiences empowered me to professionally and accordingly translate documents relatable to the cultural background and understandings of an area the documents are meant for.
Beside translating, I enjoy writing and spending time with my family. I have published two books, and numerous articles on effects of change, mainly, in education.
I am a proud mom of two children and a wife of a wonderful husband. If there is something else you might need help with, get in touch with me and I will make sure to point you in the right direction if I am not able to help you myself.
